Kootenay Kunch

Jan. 12th 2012

Stolen straight from Wiley’s blog at YLEski.com- check it out for all the latest and greatest updates from Wiley as he spends the next 5 months traveling the world loggin’ shots for his next Level 1 seg!

With snow lingering (sic) in the lower fourty-8, we packed up our trucks and headed north. Myself, P white, and Freedle Coty hop skipped over the border to meet up with Josh Bibby and Bryn Hughes. With fresh party grease still on our shoes from the year ending activities, and after some questioning we were let into the land of the great white north, Canada, and more specifically the Kootenay range of the interior BC.

The Dock, just down the street from our shack…

This line is called “the spine of god” proudly proclaimed by our guide as one of the more premier lines in the area. Here Freedle captures the action as P white takes “her” for a ride.

It happens our good friends from Oakley were in town. Dan Treadway, Greg Strokes, and Blake Jorgenson, join us for some apre…

This zone was insanely good to us… (ed note- yes, we were here last year, but can you really have too much of a good thing!??)

enough said… shopping in Nelson w/ Parker.

We have now arrived in Revelstoke and plan on getting after some more goods here in BC… winter carries on in Canada and I don’t plan on leaving any time soon. Anyone know how to get a Canadian citizenship?

Check back- more updates coming soon!

Tom Wallisch Superunknown Remix

Jan. 3rd 2012

He wasn’t the first Superunknown, but he’s definitely taken it the furthest and pretty much become a househould name over the past 5 years. You’ve seen his original entry a few times (versions on Youtube have racked up well over a million hits!) but this one has been relegated to the REALTIME DVD bonus section until now. This Tom Wallisch Superunknown remix bonus edit done up by Andrew Holson features all the bangers from the original version along with all the shots that T-Dubs stacked with Level 1 during the rest of the 2007 winter/spring season. Enjoy!

Superunknown IX

Jan. 1st 2012

Level 1 is stoked to officially announce the release of the rules and entry info for the 9th annual Superunknown contest!

What was the first video talent-search contest is still the biggest and the best- pulling in entries from across the globe, last year’s Superunknown IX contest brought in well over 100 entries from 15 different countries, and we expect this year’s to bring in even more, as the hungriest and most talented up-and-comers in the game try to follow in the footsteps of past winners like Corey Vanular, Mike Clarke, Tom Wallisch, Niklas Eriksson, Logan Imlach, and last year’s winner, Sig Tveit.

Download the official rules and entry form here, then get to work putting together your submission- just over 8 weeks until they’re due!
We’re streamlining things this year- all entries should be submitted online through the upload form below! Upload your vid in Quicktime format and email your entry form to superunknown(æ)level1productions.com and you’re good to go!

For the second year in a row we’ll be awarding a special prize for “Best Trick.” This doesn’t necessarily mean we’re looking for some wild new quad flip- that s#&t was only cool in the late 1970s. We’re just looking for something that stands out as the singular most impressive trick in all of the Superunknown IX submissions.

Loading uploadthingy: The file upload form widget for graphics, photos, video and other large files the lives on your web site ...

Tim Lloyd 2011 Season Slideshow

Dec. 27th 2011

Words by Tim Lloyd- stolen from his blog.

In previous years around this time i’ve taken a look back over the year and put together a number of images to sum up what i’ve been doing over those 365 days. I’ve decided to skip that style of post this year as my recently released new website does a pretty good job at showing some of the highlights of the year.

Saying that, i thought it would be nice to show you something as we move into the new year. During the last 12 months i’ve been lucky enough to spend a whole bunch of time with Level 1 productions putting in some serious mileage on the way. With their recent movie now released a photo slideshow of mine came as a bonus feature on the DVD and also the Itunes download. I haven’t put the slideshow online myself until now so i hope you enjoy a few of my shots i’ve compiled along the way.

With one pre season trip to Sweden already in the bag, i look forward to this next one. I’m off to Switzerland tomorrow so if another blog post doesn’t make it before new year, have a great new year and i’ll see you soon out on the snow.

Enjoy the show!

After Dark Intro and Parker White Seg

Dec. 24th 2011

Happy Holidays from Level 1! The much-talked-about intro to After Dark and the first minute of Parker White’s jaw-dropping opening segment is now up for your viewing pleasure!

About the film:
The earth turns and the sun disappears over the horizon. Flip the switch, and the lights go out. Slumber begins and the mind awakens, taking us to places we’ve never been and witnessing things not yet seen or imagined.

From the enchanted powder forests of Japan, the historic streets of Moscow, to the unthawed mountains of Western America, and everywhere in between – Level 1 invites you into our spectrum of reality to see a succession of images, visions, sounds, and sensations quite unlike those of the conscious world.

Experience it for yourself – our dream, our vision of skiing.

Extra Dark #8 – BC Pillows and Pow

Dec. 21st 2011

Well, folks. This edit wraps up our exclusive extras from Level 1 Productions’ newest film, “After Dark.” We’ve brought you everything from couloir skiing in Telluride to urban skiing in Russia, and now, a final powder edit from British Columbia to cap things off.

In this edit, Josh Bibby, Tanner Rainville, and Adam Delorme head to BC’s Monashee Powder Cats and Valhalla Powder Cats for some fluffy pilow lines and big airs. “We got really lucky a couple of days,” says Bibby. “I was probably skiing some of the deepest snow I’ve ever skied in.” If you haven’t seen “After Dark” yet, stop waiting around and download the film on iTunes or buy a DVD. Thanks for tuning in.
