With winter seeming to have come and gone along the coastal mountains of BC we managed to keep busy in hopes for a reset… it came. After a week of greasy social networking in the whistler village the storm came… along with it came heli availability. The cherry on top.

The second annual viewer-voted Superunknown Best Trick contest was a heated battle between last year's victor, Austin Torvinen and newcomer Jed Kravitz. When all the votes were counted, Jed took home the win for his textbook rodeo 5 truck over a box (@ 03:04) narrowly edging out Austin Torvinen's super-steezey heavy-headed switch wallride trick (@ 04:01).
Also in contention for top honors were Dom Laporte's switch 270 on 270 out of a BURLY 4kink rail (@ 00:37) and Laurent O Martin's 180 roof gap tranny (@ 00:47). Check 'em out along with the other nominations- over 4 minutes of straight bangers!

Most of the drywall is up and lights are going in... exciting times.
Not a bad view from our hotel room in Instanbul, Turkey!
The scene in the back of our rental truck when we dropped it off at the airport yesterday. Good week and a few shots HARD earned with Spencer Milbocker, Logan Imlach, and Parker White.
Alex Bellemare ain't THAT short. Pretty much the tallest rail we've ever seen- outside of Sapporo, Japan.
Gettin' some help from the wait staff at our lunch spot in Turkey. They busted out the snowblowers and shovels to clear the deck for Ahmet to slide a rail.
Our crew was treated to quite a show last night outside of Anchorage- one of the largest solar flares in years kicked up quite the light show!
Ahmet gettin' after it in the Motherland! Bagging some pretty wild shots in Turkey...
At long last we've had the unofficial "ground breaking" on the Level 1 office and started putting up framing for drywall. Yeah, about 2 months behind, but now that the ball is rolling we're hoping to have everything locked and loaded by the middle of May. Stay tuned!
Tanner Rainville gettin' some on our last day in Japan.
Not sure they'd let the Level 1 crew back after last year's gondola ride down the hill with Parker White, but looks like Rainville, Delorme, and Hornbeck are back at it!
Thomas the Train helping our crew get around the North Island! Ok, not really, its a schoolbus.

T Rains, AD, and Hornbeck lining up some REALLY fun zones in the middle of Japans best winter in 100 years.
This winter Moscow was blasted by the most expected movie of the year, “After Dark” by Level 1 Productions. The premier was held in the very heart of the city - the “Queen” club, located downtown, by one of the most popular among tourist places - Noviy Arbat.[nggallery id=34] Russia was waiting for the premier like a child waiting for its Christmas present. The Level 1 crew, during the filming of the Russian segment, had become like a family to the Russian freeski community. Everybody was impatient waiting for the result of the shooting.
The starting time of the premier was 21:00. It was my surprise when I arrived 2 hours early and the club was already filled with people. Everybody was chatting, discussing, and predicting what the Russian segment would be like and the whole movie...

It’s midnight, we were somewhere between Flauchenwinkl, and Salzburg, Austria. Our 20 year old taxi driver’s performance had failed against the deep austrian winter that, on this particular night, had come in heavy like the bitch she can be. The road was one lane, just enough room for our 8 passenger “vinto” van to squeeze between the head high snowbanks. Our driver had given up, the van was pitched on a 20 degree incline with one foot of fresh snow on the road, he did not speak much english, but assured us that no one was coming and a tractor was our only saving grace.
Back track 24 hours earlier, Parker White, Chris Logan and myself are giving the locals a show on the dance floor in Champery,... From USA, Canada to Scandinavia all the way to Japan, from Hip Hop, Pop, Soul, Electronic to Classic Rock, from Park, Backcountry to Urban, from the age of 12 to 24, from wmv, mp4 to mov. Thank you all for uploading your videos for this years SUPERUNKNOWN IX. Your job is done! Now it is our difficult task to pick the finalists, the Best Trick and the overall Superunknown IX. Good Luck! ...
Truth be told its been a slow last 3 weeks in Europe. Not much skiing, but LOTS of meat, cheese, and at least a few Nutella overdoses have left Parker White a few pounds heavier then when we left the States. Not the best shape he's ever been in by any means.
After the rug was pulled out from under our plans to head to Bad Gastein, we ended up getting the hookup to spend the rest of our trip at Flachauwinkl, Austria thanks to Absolut Park! Nightmare travel day yesterday and we finally arrived at 1am to at least 18" of fresh pow. Some sun in the forecast and a lengthy hit list of things to do... more updates soon!
Parker White Says: "Craziest Day of traveling in my life yesterday, missed a train or bus at every connection, ended up in Liechtenstein, a country I did not know existed, everyone was wearing Teletubbie costumes partying like crazy, in Flachauwinkl Austria now, snow is amazing some rad pillows and jump spots lined up, everyone is super friendly, can't wait for the next couple days. Back to the States saturday....
After 14 straight days of sun and high pressure a storm just rolled in to Portes du Soleil bringing some much needed pow- not a ton, but enough for now. More details coming soon.
Wiley Miller checks in from Champéry, Switzerland! Life carries on over here… One day we build the next we hit. It’s been a jump building marathon over here. With the blue skies, and cold temps the snow has remained light and fluffy in spots, even with the lack of fresh, it hasn’t snowed here in over 10 days…

Super cold temps in Champéry, Switz causing some massive crystal growth. Wild!
Via Skipass.com (yeah, Google Translate version- kinda rough!): Dadali Ahmet, 23, one of the stars of the production Level 1 (Eye Trip, After Dark), does as its head. The "Dada" contained in its name recalls that his time playing this artistic movement disorders-parties agreed in the art, and today Dadali is a worthy successor to these provocateurs. It arises like that and we balance the rails of nowhere, his dazzling tricks to do-we-know-where, puts his shoes on the stone, concrete, tar, metal, and sometimes snow.
This is the epitome of urban skiers, with all that the expression of a paradox, the kind of skier who has counted more stairs than vertical meters because his kindergarten was 325 m up exactly. He skied with the open jacket (his signature) but mostly, he skis, again and again, despite the injuries (three operations on...
Descending into the clouds- beautiful, sunny, and COLD day at the top of the mountain while the town below got a dusting of snow... fancy that.

Perched on a sketchy hillside in the middle of an avalanche path, Adam Delorme, AD to his friends, is waiting to drop in. He was shuttled to the top of the gnarly in-run by Level 1 Productions filmer Kyle Decker, who then snowmobiled back to his camera, set up in the trees some distance from the jump. No one else is around. No crowd, no production crew, no other skiers, no photographer, no safety net. It is snowing hard and visibility is questionable at best.
“We were building the jump with the idea the sun was going to break the next day,” recalls Decker. “It was just something to do and he was like, ‘Fuck it, I’m gonna start hitting this thing.’ He never even told...

Stoked to be back in our favorite spot in Switzerland with Parker White, Chris Logan, Wiley Miller, and photog Tim Lloyd. Fresh snow, blue sky, and FRIGID temps mean blower pow! Game on!
Two feet of snow in less then 48 hours and Denver is poised to be going off over the next few days... Parker White nabbed a banger or two on this thing before packing up and heading off to Europe. What is it? Well, it's big, and pretty scary. And it was stomped. We'll leave it at that! Will Wesson and Mike Horbeck just got to town to pick up where Parker left off, and McChesney will be showing up tomorrow to join the party. More soon...
Kyle Decker snapped a quick photo of this mint-condition California State Highway patrol car while in rush hour in Helsinki, Finland. A little out of your jurisdiction?
Our crew is apparently doing battle on the streets of Helsinki! Tim McChesney, LJ Strenio, and Spencer Milbocker aren't letting a little bloodshed stand in the way of getting the shot! Thanks to Nate Abbott for the pic!

Big night at the Powder Awards for the Level 1 crew!!! Tom Wallisch takin' home the #1 spot in the Reader's Poll, Parker White walking away with Breckthrough Performer, and JF Houle winning the hard-earned Best Jib! Yeah boys!!!! So stoked for you...
Last day at Stevens Pass- Hornbeck stumbled upon this field of overgrown marshmallows. We're calling this zone the "Bird Massacre Pillows" after finding the gruesome remains of dead birds strewn all over the place- weird, yeah, looks like some crows decided to pick on some little birds and things got outta hand. Weird. True.
Escalator is currently out of order - Please use stairs! Josh Bibby somewhere in Steep and Deep, BC!
Nothin' like a snow cave to keep ya warm and dry while you're waiting to line up your next shot... or something like that.
Ingrid Backstrom was back at her home mountain for a few days while our crew was in town- she offered to show us around, and hook Mike Hornbeck up with some free ski lessons. Thanks Ingrid!

Our 2-week street mission to AK comes to a close today- good times with Logan Imlach, Tom Wallisch, Mike Hornbeck, and Chris Logan!
While most of the US and Canada is suffering a pretty miserable winter right now, there are a few pockets that seem to have avoided the worst of the warm/dry trends. Josh Bibby found one here- rebating the Stoneyland zone we hit up last year. Jealous yet? I am, sitting here in the office in Denver- thats for sure!
Parker White, Wiley Miller, and Josh Bibby met up with Dan Treadway in the BC backcountry, taking a break from sending pillow lines to hang by this campfire and dry off for a few minutes. Not a bad spot, eh?
Looks like Europe is getting us back for stealing all their pow last year! Tanner Rainville has found the goods... overhead deep in Grindewald Switzerland!
It was a low of -20 the other night in Anchorage, AK. A pretty hearty (and small) group of Occupy Anhcorage peeps held it down though. Ya think Sarah Palin is camped out in there?

Superunknown VII Winner Logan Imlach made the most of filming opportunities last year, stacking shots on urban and backcountry trips across North America. While his segment in Level 1's feature flick, "After Dark," only highlighted the cream of the crop shots, there were plenty of other bangers that didn't make the cut. Logan took it upon himself to put together one of the slickest self-edits that we've seen yet....
Bringin' it back after last year's successful web edits, Peak is stoked to present another 10-edit series featuring some of the best 2011 content produced by your favorite Peak athletes, including Mike Hornbeck, Alex Bellemare, Phil Casabon, Spencer Milbocker, Pat Goodnough, and others! Starting today, Monday December 12th, we'll be dropping one edit a day for the next 2 weeks (Monday through Friday- gotta take weekends off, right?)

We're kicking things off right on Day #1 with some top-notch content from Hornbeck's annual jib trip to the Midwest- some rails, drops, jibs, and trannies right outta his home state of Michigan!
Denver didn't see much snow during the 2010-2011 winter, but we're already off to a good start with a steady stream of small storm systems rolling through the area and dumping a couple inches here and there. "The movie itself was highly anticipated and delivered on all levels. The world tour of shots was incredible. Skiers like Ahmet Dadali (fresh off a best male performance from last year's Eye Trip) continued to shred, and other personal favorite riders Tom Wallisch and Parker White nailed their segments as well. Sun Valley shots were sick... as was the Moscow and Japan footy. Itunes download is eminent.
'After Dark' delivered the gnar, and the hosts delivered the atmosphere. Snowriders and Greatest Bar put on a hell of a party. This was my first exposure to Snowriders, a unique ski/snowboard tour organizer based out of Boston. Looks like their trips are targeted at a more of...

Level 1 went to Russia this past season with Ahmet, Hornbeck, and Wallisch! Yeah, we know, old news... you've read the article in Freeskier Mag (it was a good one!), probably seen a few pix online, and probably even seen the Russia seg in After Dark. BUT, we just came across a few gems put together by our Russian Comrades that ya gotta check out- always interesting hearing the story from the inside, even with the rough translation!

Last year when I hosted a premiere in Prince George, BC for Level 1 Productions’ 11th feature film, Eye Trip, all I was hoping for was to sell enough tickets to break even for the night, and maybe have enough money left over to buy a new pair of bindings. But when I made a last minute decision to donate the profits from the night to a young man, whose name I hardly knew, I had no idea the snowball effect I was about to create.
Shortly after last year’s Eye Trip premiere I took some time to write to Level 1’s Josh Berman to let him know what we had done with the money from the premiere, and being the top notch guy he is, Josh donated Level 1’s portion of...

Barcelona goes off! Well, at least that's what we're told, and we've got photographic evidence that they throw down a pretty sweet Level 1 premiere every year. They just wrapped up a screening of After Dark to a sold out crowd, gave away a bunch of gear, and got some dudes to strip down on stage. All in good fun, right? Huge thanks to our friends at AlltheSki.com for putting together an awesome show and continuing to support Level 1!

Last October Level 1 Productions premiered “Eye Trip” in Prince George, BC. At the premiere Level 1 charged a cover and provided gear for the raffle. The movie was well-received and the packed venue coupled with the oohs and aahs during the film were evidence of that. Unlike most premieres though, all of the proceeds from the raffle and admission for the event went to a good cause, (then 15-year-old) Landon McGauley from Quesnel, British Columbia. High Fives Foundation and Level 1 Productions have had a long relationship, and upon hearing the story of teenage British Columbia native Landon McGauley, High Fives reached out to Level 1 for the introduction. On July 4th of last year Landon was involved in a downhill mountain biking...Our fresh new Under Armour jerseys just showed up at the Level 1 house... should be hittin' the store in a day or two. Ahmet did a quick Q&A with the crew from Skiers.dk on his past season, filming with Level 1, and the state of skiing in general. As always, he speaks his mind.
Hey Ahmet. What are you up to at the moment? Yo man, at this moment I am chillin in MT. Hood Oregon, just got done with a road bike ride to start the morning off, grabbed some fruits to keep the body healthy. We are a lot of people who are looking forward to ”After Dark” from Level 1 Productions. Can we expect the same sick part in “After Dark” like you had in Eye Trip? I'd like to think so, I worked on a rough cut of my segment with my homie Decker, and it's looking pretty good. I got cut a little short of a full...Interesting stuff.
Good for the sport? Bad? Mixture of the two? Should slopestyle and pipe really be considered as under the Freestyle Skiing umbrella? Who's REALLY going to cash in on this?
The below text pulled from Urtur.com: Today the IOC Executive Board met in Durban, South Africa and has decided to include Ski Slopstyle to the program of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia! IOC President Jacque Rogge and the Executive Board had delayed the addtion of Ski Slopestyle for further review after announcing Ski Halfpipe to the program in April of 2011. Quick backstory on this one- The organizer of the Prince George, BC Eye Trip premiere decided to throw all his profits from the event into a fund to help out Landon, who suffered a spinal cord injury last summer. Â Hearing about this, we added our profits from the event to Landon's fund as well, and the good folks at High Fives took note and decided to get involved. Â They set Landon up with a sit ski, a few trips to Tahoe, and a ton of support to help him along the way towards realizing his goals of skiing in the Olympics in 2014. Â Booyah!
