Adam Delorme Freeskier Mag Profile

Feb. 6th 2012

AS SEEN IN THE JANUARY 2012 ISSUE OF FREESKIER. WORDS AND PORTRAITS BY NATE ABBOTT.

Perched on a sketchy hillside in the middle of an avalanche path, Adam Delorme, AD to his friends, is waiting to drop in. He was shuttled to the top of the gnarly in-run by Level 1 Productions filmer Kyle Decker, who then snowmobiled back to his camera, set up in the trees some distance from the jump. No one else is around. No crowd, no production crew, no other skiers, no photographer, no safety net. It is snowing hard and visibility is questionable at best.

“We were building the jump with the idea the sun was going to break the next day,” recalls Decker. “It was just something to do and he was like, ‘Fuck it, I’m gonna start hitting this thing.’ He never even told me he was going to do a triple. He started with dub back. That’s his test trick. I feel like he’s as comfortable doing a dub back as a straight air. Then he was trying some dub tens that weren’t really coming around for him.” For someone who is so passionate about his friends, it’s surprising to know that AD did that triple back, one of the most impressive moments in After Dark, in near solitude.

Extra Dark #8 – BC Pillows and Pow

Dec. 21st 2011

Well, folks. This edit wraps up our exclusive extras from Level 1 Productions’ newest film, “After Dark.” We’ve brought you everything from couloir skiing in Telluride to urban skiing in Russia, and now, a final powder edit from British Columbia to cap things off.

In this edit, Josh Bibby, Tanner Rainville, and Adam Delorme head to BC’s Monashee Powder Cats and Valhalla Powder Cats for some fluffy pilow lines and big airs. “We got really lucky a couple of days,” says Bibby. “I was probably skiing some of the deepest snow I’ve ever skied in.” If you haven’t seen “After Dark” yet, stop waiting around and download the film on iTunes or buy a DVD. Thanks for tuning in.

Extra Dark #4 – Breck Park Session

Nov. 23rd 2011

April showers bring May flowers, or, blizzards? The first week of May saw nearly 5-feet of new snow falling in Summit County, CO. We had to keep pushing our Breck shoot back in order to actually see some sunny skies and warm temps- key ingredients for any Spring park shoot. Running out of time before the next scheduled shoot we pulled the trigger and kicked off our shoot in a harrowing blizzard (at night, no less) before the clouds cleared and we were treated to some grade-A superpark-style features from the Breck park staff.

Check it all out in this webisode featuring cutting-room floor (crazy -the quality of tricks and treats that don’t make the feature flick!) shots of Tom Wallisch, Parker White, Chris Logan, Adam Delorme, Mike Hornbeck, Alex Bellemare, Pat Goodnough, and Banks Gilberti. Thanks again to everyone at Breck for all the hard work that went into making this shoot such a success!

Extra Dark Webisode Series Drops!

Nov. 13th 2011

Introducing a new, exclusive video series from Level 1, featuring cutting-room-floor footage from their new film, “After Dark.” “We had four camera crews traveling the world for six months shooting for our latest movie and we accumulated more content than we could ever squeeze into an hour-long feature film,” says Level 1′s director Josh Berman. “What you see in the flick, mag, and web coverage only tells a part of the story. The Extra Dark series that we’ll be dropping online features some awesome behind-the-scenes stories, a look at the filmmaking process, outtakes, extras, and a ton of grade-A action that hasn’t yet seen the light of day.”

Episode #5: Moscow, Russia – Wednesday November 30th

At this point you’ve seen the Russia seg in the movie, read the web updates, the feature article in Freeskier, etc, but we promise we’re NOT beating a dead horse- check out this webisode for some fresh content, fresh humor, and a fresh perspective on our Moscow jib trip.

Lights Out- After Dark World Premiere

Sep. 12th 2011

The lights went out in Denver, CO this past Friday night as Level 1 pushed play on their 12th annual feature length ski flick for a packed house at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom.  Crowds lined up early and wrapped around the block in anticipation of what the ski community has come to look forward to as one of the biggest and best parties of the Fall season, and by all accounts, everyone got what they expected.

In attendance; Parker White, Tom Wallisch, Chris Logan, Ahmet Dadali, Will Wesson, Mike Hornbeck, Wiley Miller, Tanner Rainville, and Adam Delorme, as well as friends, media, and industry VIPs traveling from all across the country to be on hand for the night’s festivities.

After DJ Harvitronix’s opening set, our annual Monster Chug wrapped up the prize giveaway and set up 5 lucky fans with rad prizes from Rossi, Klint, DaleBoot, Skullcandy, Bula, Saga, and Electric- everyone went home with something, even if their chugging technique wasn’t working so well.

Parker White’s opening seg was by all accounts, an “eye trip” and far and away the most well-rounded  and all-encompassing part that Level 1 has ever put together, and kicked off 55+ mins of top notch ski action, great music, and all the ingredients that we consider necessary for a successful ski flick.  If the volume of screaming yelling and cheering is a good way to gauge crowd reaction, the 1400 people in attendance seemed to agree.  Highlights seemingly included Chris Logan and Alex Bellemare’s part following on the heels of Parker’s opener, Hornbeck’s strongest segment in years, Rainville’s POV shots, Will Wesson’s first real feature-length seg with Level 1, Adam Delorme’s best seg yet, and Ahmet Dadali doing what he does best.

Much thanks to all the event sponsors that helped this year’s World Premiere go off!  Monster, Rossignol, Freeskier, Skullcandy, Under Armour, Klint, DaleBoot, Powderhuffer.com, Saga, Spy, Scott, Bula, Electric, and Loveland!

Lots of premieres on the horizon!  Two days and counting ’til our SLC Level 1/4bi9 blowout.  This Friday we wrap up the first night of films at IF3 in Montreal, and the next night are getting after it in Seattle with 4FRNT at Evo!

Stay tuned to the Events Calendar for a full listing of After Dark World Tour dates and locations around the globe!

Nate Abbot Checks in From Montana

Apr. 2nd 2011

Photog Nate Abbott spent some time with us recently in Montana.  Check the full update at Freeskier.com

I got out with Kyle and Adam for a few days’”a little shooting and a lot of shredding for me. I can say it was some of the deepest and best powder of the year. And it’s so rare I get to shred while I’m shooting so I’m extra greatful to the guys. A big storm rolled in 3 days ago right as we were finishing two never before hit jumps of the most epic proportions. But it came in fast and warm and yesterday, with rain falling in town, I decided to pull the plug.
