Shot and edited by Ahmet and Giray, words from Ahmet:
I had my third knee surgery this summer and it was a rougher one. Last week i finally started being able to ski without feeling it hurt too bad and was stoked. So me and the little brosif thought it was about time to put together a little collar, aint nothing going to hold us back from skiing, especially a knee.
Level 1 is stoked to officially announce the release of the rules and entry info for the 9th annual Superunknown contest!
What was the first video talent-search contest is still the biggest and the best- pulling in entries from across the globe, last year’s Superunknown IX contest brought in well over 100 entries from 15 different countries, and we expect this year’s to bring in even more, as the hungriest and most talented up-and-comers in the game try to follow in the footsteps of past winners like Corey Vanular, Mike Clarke, Tom Wallisch, Niklas Eriksson, Logan Imlach, and last year’s winner, Sig Tveit.
Download the official rules and entry form here, then get to work putting together your submission- just over 8 weeks until they’re due!
We’re streamlining things this year- all entries should be submitted online through the upload form below! Upload your vid in Quicktime format and email your entry form to superunknown@level1productions.com and you’re good to go!
For the second year in a row we’ll be awarding a special prize for “Best Trick.” This doesn’t necessarily mean we’re looking for some wild new quad flip- that s#&t was only cool in the late 1970s. We’re just looking for something that stands out as the singular most impressive trick in all of the Superunknown IX submissions.
Sorry, end of the competition. Entries wont be accepted anymore.
Big night at the Powder Awards for the Level 1 crew!!! Tom Wallisch takin’ home the #1 spot in the Reader’s Poll, Parker White walking away with Breckthrough Performer, and JF Houle winning the hard-earned Best Jib! Yeah boys!!!! So stoked for you all!
You asked for it and we’ve delivered, some QUALITY throwback segments from your favorite Level 1 films! We’ll be dropping some more segments over the next few months, but we’ll kick things off right here and now with Corey Vanular’s banger opening part from 2005′s “Shanghai Six.”
The now horribly outdated movie description:
In their 2005 release, Shanghai Six, Level 1 charges full speed ahead with nothing short of the most progressive freesking/jib film ever produced. Follow their crew across the far reaches of North America and Europe to the biggest and most intense backcountry jumps and gaps, the deepest pow, and the most creative and tech urban jibs and rails ever built and shot.
With Level 1′s trademark vibe, compelling cinematography, and a cast including the best talent in the sport, this first-ever High Definition action ski adventure is the “must have” of the season.
Featuring: Corey Vanular, Travis Redd, Tanner Rainville, Loic Collomb Paton, Colby West, Dan Marion, Marie Martinod , John Symms, Stefan Thomas, Dave Crichton, Craig Coker, Austin Ramaley, Matt Sterbenz, Luke Van Valin, Liam Downey, Steele Spence, Ben Wiltse, Scott Hibbert, Stephen Smith, John Spriggs
Liam Downey’s closing segment from Level 1′s 7th release, “Long Story Short.” Shot during the Fall of 2005 and Winter of 2006, we followed Liam up and down the East Coast, to Southern CO, UT, Quebec, and Austria. Check it out!
